COVINGTON — Ernest Odeneal, 83, Covington, died at 5:25 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2002 in the VA Illiana Health Care System, Danville, Ill. He was born Jan. 2, 1919 in Vermillion County, the son of William Grady and Effie Emily (Holycross) Odeneal. He married Mildred Leora Yates April 12, 1941. She survives. He was a member of the East Park Church of Christ in Danville and a life member of the Charles Forrest Post #288 American Legion in Veedersburg. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked at the C & E I shops in Danville, Ill. After that, he operated Odeneal's Septic Service. Retiring, he worked in his garden and his wife's flowers. He spent many hours helping others. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter, Linda Kay (Gary) Williams, Covington; two grandsons, Stacey Lee Williams, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Carl Lane Williams, Covington; a sister, Lola Lucille (Dathel) Ramage, Grand Rivers, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leolus. Gravesite services were at 11 a.m. Monday in Lower Mound Cemetery with Dennis Floyd and Jason Carter officiating. Military services were by the American Legion. Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials requested to the East Park Church of Christ or Orchard Hills Church of Christ. – jlr
